The Global China Academy (GCA) is supported through a combination of Fellowship contributions and voluntary donations. This dual structure reflects both the institutional framework of the Academy and the shared commitment of its Fellows and wider community.

As a UK Charity Commission–registered independent not-for-profit organisation, your support is essential to sustaining our academic activities, advancing our academic mission through publication and contribution to the edifice of human knowledge, and advancing our social mission through dialogue and participation in the governance of global society.

Your support enables the Academy to sustain and develop its core academic activities, including publications, Global China Dialogues, and international collaboration.

Ways to support

1. Fellowship contributions

GCA Fellows may support the Academy through annual contributions in line with the Fellowship framework. For details, please visit the Fellowship Contributions page.

2. Supporting Global Century Press

Global Century Press (GCP), the publishing arm of the Global China Academy, advances the Academy’s academic mission through open-access publishing, with around 80% of its journal and book content freely accessible. Support for GCP includes Article Processing Charges (APC), Book Processing Charges (BPC), and subscriptions to journals; see its open access policy.

Support for GCP takes three main forms:

• Article Processing Charges (APC) and Book Processing Charges (BPC)
• subscriptions to journals
• access to book publications and related academic outputs

3. Supporting Global China Dialogues (GCD)

Global China Dialogue (GCD) series forum is conceived as part of the Academy’s participation in the governance of global society through academic exchange and dialogue. They provide a platform for sustained engagement between Chinese and international scholars. 

Support for GCD may take the form of co-organisation, sponsorship, or general support：

• Co-organiser of one Global China Dialogue: over £5,000
• Sponsor of one Global China Dialogue: around £3,000
• Supporter of Global China Dialogues: up to £1,000

4. Academic visiting programmes and services

The Academy supports international collaboration through tailored academic visiting programmes and institutional engagement activities, including visiting delegations and short-term study visits. Building on extensive experience in hosting such activities over many years, these programmes are now offered in a more structured format and are available on a fee-paying basis, with activities supported by the Academy’s Fellows and, where appropriate, hosted at the Fellows’ Home.

5. Donations

Individual or institutional donations of any amount are welcome.

• UK taxpayers may choose to support the Academy through the Gift Aid scheme, which allows the Academy to claim tax on eligible donations.
• The Charity Gift Aid Declaration form can be downloaded Charity_GAD_Multiple_Donations, or directly from the HMRC website.
