About the Global China Dialogue (GCD) Series
The Global China Dialogue (GCD) series is an annual high-level international academic and policy dialogue platform initiated and developed by the Global China Academy (GCA). Since its inception, the GCD has successfully held ten editions and has grown into a major interdisciplinary and transcultural platform bringing together representatives from academia, government, industry, and civil society worldwide. Focusing on global governance and international cooperation, the Dialogue explores major contemporary challenges through Chinese and comparative perspectives, advancing both knowledge and institutional responses.
The GCD series combines long-term planning with annual thematic focus. Its themes have been developed in a continuous and forward-looking manner, with a programme already outlined through to 2030. Each Dialogue addresses a specific theme within this broader framework, deepening transcultural understanding and interdisciplinary analysis of global issues. In addition, each Dialogue produces the Global China Dialogue Proceedings, transforming discussions and scholarly contributions into systematic knowledge resources and extending their global academic and public impact.
We cordially invite institutions and organisations worldwide to participate in the Global China Dialogue (GCD) series and to join us in advancing transcultural academic exchange and engagement with global governance.
Dialogue Structure
Each annual Dialogue is organised around plenary sessions, led by an opening session and structured as follows:
- Opening Session
Including Opening Remarks, a Keynote Address, and the Fellowship Conferment Ceremony - Thematic Plenary Sessions
Four thematic plenary sessions, typically arranged as two in the morning and two in the afternoon, with tea breaks between sessions - Public Dialogue and Engagement
Running throughout the event, including during registration, tea breaks, lunch, and Q&A sessions within each thematic session - Closing Session
Closing Remarks delivered after the fourth plenary session - Reception / Dinner
Following the Dialogue, a reception or formal dinner is usually held to facilitate further exchange and collaboration
Partnership Structure
The Global China Dialogue is supported by a long-term institutional partnership network comprising the organising committee, supporting institutions, and partners. Existing partners are considered continuing participants by default unless they notify otherwise, with their status and associated privileges retained across Dialogues. At the same time, we warmly welcome new partners with relevant expertise and resources to contribute to the thematic design and implementation of each Dialogue.
This structure ensures both continuity and flexibility, enabling sustained collaboration alongside dynamic thematic engagement.
