Fellowship Benefits
Fellows of the Global China Academy, including Full Fellows, Associate Fellows, and Institutional Fellows, will receive the following benefits:
- Global promotion of the academic publications and activities of GCA Fellows.
- A free e-journal issue of any journal published by Global Century Press (including both Open Access content and content that is normally Restricted) on request.
- A free e-book copy of any two books published by Global Century Press (including both Open Access content and content that is normally Restricted) on request.
- A discount on APCs or BPCs when publishing in Global Century Press journals or books (See Open Access Policy for details).
- Free consultancy and development leading to the publication of a high-quality book through Global Century Press. Material will be self-selected from the Fellow’s academic work, such as journal articles, book chapters, essays, book reviews, and conference speeches.
- A 30% discount on print and digital editions of all Global Century Press books and journals.
- Free registration as an attendee at the Global China Dialogue (GCD) forum series.
- Free facilitation of access to any site in China or the UK for fieldwork or a field visit on request.
- Free facilitation of arrangement to present an event in China or the UK during a field visit on request.
- Fellows may use the letters ‘FGCA’ (Fellow of the Global China Academy) after their name.
- A chance to be included in the book series ‘The Top 50 World Social Scientists on China’, e.g. with a global or comparative perspective, being developed by Global China Academy for publication by Global Century Press.
- For Fellows, including Full Fellows and Associate Fellows, or one member of an Institutional Fellow, free accommodation for one week at the GCA Fellows’ Home (Full Fellows may also bring family), along with associated benefits to aid travel in London, research requirements, and leisure activities, such as:
- Staying in one of five self-contained studios or two en-suite rooms.
- Provide pick-up and drop-off services to and from airports or stations to the Fellows’ Home.
- Provide transportation strategies for traveling to central London from the Fellows’ Home (e.g., 24 minutes by train to King’s Cross or about 38 minutes by local underground to Euston) and surrounding areas, as well as necessary pick-up and drop-off services to nearby underground stations.
- Use of the GCA library, which has 6,000 books on China, comparative studies on China, global studies, and social sciences and humanities.
- An accompanied walk in Scratchwood, an Ice Age oak wood, and Moat Mount Open Space, a park and nature reserve, both just a few minutes’ walk from the Fellows Home (Click here to explore the six ‘walk and talk’ routes, including tea and lunch or supper).
- A free round of golf and a complimentary meal for the Fellow at the clubhouse (a few minutes’ walk from the GCA Fellows Home), followed by the opportunity to relax in a single-person-sized jacuzzi, massage chair, or infrared sauna at the Fellows Home.

Fellowship Obligations
Fellows of the Global China Academy, including Full Fellows, Associate Fellows, and Institutional Fellows, should fulfill the following obligations:
- Promote the core values and missions of the Global China Academy to a wider audience.
- Participate in the Global China Dialogue series of forums in various forms.
- Contribute their work to the publications of Global Century Press in various forms.
- Recommend or Nominate Fellows
- Pay Fellowship subscriptions.
