Fellowship Benefits
Fellows of Global China Academy (FGCA) will receive the following benefits:
- A free e-journal issue of any journal published by Global Century Press (including both Open Access content and content that is normally Restricted) on request
- A free e-book copy of any two books published by Global Century Press (including both Open Access content and content that is normally Restricted) on request
- Free consultancy and development leading to publication of a high-quality book through Global Century Press. Material will be self-selected from the Fellow’s academic work such as journal articles, book chapters, essays, book reviews, and conference speeches
- 25% discount on print and digital editions of all Global Century Press books and journals
- Free registration as an attendee at the Global China Dialogue (GCD) forum
- Free arrangement to entry any site in China or the UK for fieldwork or a field visit on request
- Free arrangement for presenting a seminar in China or the UK during their field visit on request
- A chance to be included in the book series ‘The top 50 world social scientists on China’, e.g. with global or comparative perspective, being developed by Global China Academy for publication by Global Century Press
- Fellows may use the post-nominal letters ‘FGCA’ (Fellow of the Global China Academy) after their name
- Free accommodation for one week at the GCA Fellows Home in North West London (Full Fellows may also bring family). Accomodation includes:
- staying in one of five self-contained studios or two en-suite rooms
- being escorted to and from an airport or a station in or around London
- free one-day London Travelcard, which could include a visit to the British Library (22 minutes by train to King’s Cross or about 35 minutes to Euston by local Underground stations)
- being collected or dropped off at nearby Underground stations for a visit to London during the stay
- use of the GCA library, which has 6,000 books on China, comparative studies on China, global studies and social sciences and humanities
- an accompanied walk in Scratchwood, an Ice Age oak wood, and Moat Mount Open Space, a park and nature reserve, both just a few minutes’ walk from the Fellows Home
- a free round of golf and a complementary meal for the Fellow at the club house (a few minutes’ walk from the GCA Fellows Home), followed by the opportunity to relax in a single-person-sized jacuzzi, massage chair or infrared sauna at the Fellows Home
Notes: 1) Benefits 1–8 apply to all Individual Fellows. 2) Benefits 9 does not apply to Associate Fellows and Institutional Fellows. 3) Benefit 10 can only apply to one member at a time in the organization of an Institutional Fellow. 4) Publications by Global Century Press purchased or subscribed to by Institutional Fellows, as part of benefits 1–2, can be shared with all institution members.
Fellowship Obligations
Fellows of Global China Academy (FGCA) should fulfill the following obligations:
- Disseminate the core values and missions of the Global China Academy to a wider audience.
- Participate in the Global China Dialogue series of forums
- Contribute their work to the publications of Global Century Press
- Nominate Fellows
- Pay Fellowship subscriptions
