Professor Shuhua Zhou FGCA

Professor Shuhua Zhou, Chair Professor at City University of Hong Kong and a Fellow of the International Communication Association (ICA). He is a former President of the Chinese Communication Association (CCA) (2017-2019) and Vice Chair of the Asia-Pacific Communication Alliance (ACPC) (2018-2025). Dr Zhou is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media, and an editor for Computers in Human Behavior and Communication & Society. He also serves on the editorial boards of several SSCI-indexed journals. From 1988 to 1993, he worked as a news anchor and head of the English news group at Guangdong Television’s News Department. He was also a Professor and Associate Dean at the University of Alabama, and held the Leonard H. Goldenson Chair in Journalism at the University of Missouri. Dr Zhou has been a visiting professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Zhou’s main research areas include media information cognition, media psychology, media content and form, media effects, international communication, and visual communication. He has published academic books and textbooks, including Media Reflections: Authoritative Interpretations of Journalism and Communication Education Abroad, Research Methods in Communication, and Media Effects and Social Change. Additionally, he has authored nearly 100 journal articles and book chapters.
