Transculturality and New Global Governance
Date: Monday-Tuesday, 23–24 November, 2015

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 2nd Global China Dialogue: Transculturality and New Global Governance. It is organised jointly by CCPN Global (China in Comparative Perspective Network Global, a UK-based global academic society), the China Media Centre, University of Westminster, and the Development Institute, Fudan University, with the British Sociological Association (BSA) and Chinese Association of World Politics Studies as honorary organizers, and supported by the British Council and the Cultural Office of Chinese Embassy in the UK.
The year 2015 is a significant date, having been announced as the ‘Year of UK–China Cultural Exchange’ by the Chinese and British governments. During the year, both countries are holding a series of high-level cultural activities in order to promote cultural communication and industrial collaboration, as well as mutual understanding and friendship between them. In particular, they both chose ‘creativity’ as a theme for their Culture Seasons.
Following the success of the 1st Global China Dialogue (GCD), organized by CCPN Global and YES Global in 2014 in London, the 2nd GCD will focus on ‘transculturality and new global governance’. It will consist of six panels:
- New global governance
- Transculturality and social creativity
- Global governance and regional governance
- New media and transcultural practice
- Climate change and global environmental governance
- ‘Civilized dialogue’ from transcultural and comparative perspectives
The event will discuss all facets of new global governance, encompassing national governments, international organizations, multinational companies, NGOs and citizens, as well as seeking new rules of ‘civilized dialogue’, encouraging both sides to listen to the other, understand cultural differences, respect local customs, accept different perspectives and acknowledge the common destiny of humanity, with a view to building a harmonious, symbiosis-based global community.
